SEAC Executive Director Raises Nearly $3,000 by Jumping off Building!

"Getting our tools into the hands of those that need them is important and, if doing something like this accomplishes that, I consider it a win.”

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – On Wednesday, June 25th at approximately 2:00 PM, the Executive Director of the South East Area Coalition, Mike Evans, rappelled over 220 feet down the Hyatt Regency building in downtown Rochester. Mike Evans and the rest of the SEAC crew had a goal of raising $3,000 to continue to expand their tool lending library for the Rocheter community. By the end of the event, they had met 91% of their goal by reaching $2,732. SEAC has until next Wednesday, July 2, to get to their goal.

When asked why he was putting his life in the hands of a safety harness and some rope, Mike Evans responded with, “I'm doing this because it's a really weird and unique opportunity to raise funds in a fun way and, more importantly, spread the word about SEAC and our amazing Tool Shed program. Getting our tools into the hands of those that need them is important and, if doing something like this accomplishes that, I consider it a win.”

Sarah Farmer, SEAC’s Board Chair, President of South Clinton Merchant’s Association, and owner of Wedge 23, praises Mike Evans’ dedication to the organization and his community. She says, “Under Mike's leadership, there has been a clear vision of SEAC’s mission and with that vision in mind he has built strong teams around him to accomplish those goals.”

The Tool Shed allows members to borrow over 1,300 tools from its collection to promote wellness and equality among the Greater Rochester Area. Funds raised through this event help fuel a mobile tool lending library that is scheduled to begin this fall. This will allow for even more accessibility to more tools for even more people in the community. Supporters can donate by using this link: SEAC's Pledge the Edge Donation Page.
