Canal Street Shooting Arrest

Rochester, NY - On August 29, around 9:30pm, Officers responded to Canal Street for the report of a female shot. Officers located an 18-year old female suffering from at least one serious gunshot wound to the lower body. They quickly applied a tourniquet and she was transported to Strong Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation by Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit found that the victim was allegedly shot by 19-year old Suh’cehs Kinder during a domestic related incident. On September 18, the Rochester Police Department’s Tactical Unit located Kinder on during a traffic stop on Ames Street and safely took him into custody.

During the investigation, additional evidence was uncovered indicating that Kinder had fired a gun on August 19, during an incident on Cottage St. Thankfully, no one was injured during that incident.

Kinder was transported to the Monroe County Jail and is currently being held on $100,000 bail. Suh’cehs Kinder, age 19, is charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree.

He is also charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon the 2nd Degree and Prohibited Use of a Weapon relative to his actions on August 19.
