The City of Rochester is inviting residents to take part in two free Rochester Community University (RCU) sessions this summer, designed to help strengthen neighborhoods, build community connections, and provide practical tools for community improvement.
"Rochester Community University connects residents with the knowledge, resources, and relationships that help strengthen our neighborhoods," said Mayor Malik D. Evans. "These free sessions offer practical information and opportunities for residents to become even more engaged in the future of our city."
The Summer 2026 cohort will feature two interactive workshops led by local community leaders and partners. Sessions are open to residents, neighborhood organizations, business owners, and anyone interested in making a positive impact in their community.
The first session, "More Than Likes: Using Social Media to Strengthen Community," will be held via Zoom from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 24. Participants will learn strategies for using social media to share information, promote neighborhood activities, and encourage greater community engagement.
The second session, "Build Impact with the Southeast Area Coalition Tool Shed," will be held in- person from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Monday 29. Participants will learn about resources available through the Southeast Area Coalition Tool Shed Program and how those resources can support neighborhood improvement projects, community organizations, and local businesses.
Additional details, including locations, virtual participation options, and registration information, are available online. Space may be limited. To learn more and register, visit www.cityofrochester.gov/rcu.
