City Reminds Residents to Stay Safe During Summer Heat: "Cool Sweep" Services Activated

As temperatures climb this summer, the City’s Cool Sweep program is available to help residents stay safe. Mayor Malik D. Evans encourages residents to take advantage of this resource whenever temperatures become dangerous.

Running from June through September, Cool Sweep is the City of Rochester's seasonal public safety initiative designed to help residents stay safe and comfortable during periods of extreme summer heat. When temperatures are forecast to reach 85°F or higher, the City activates Cool Sweep to provide free access to cooling resources throughout Rochester.

During Cool Sweep, designated cooling sites, including City R-Centers, pools, spray parks, select library branches, and Durand Eastman Beach, will be open to offer relief from the heat. Residents are encouraged to check specific hours of operation before heading out.
