Rochester, NY - On August 10, around 2am, Officers responded to Grover Street for the report of a male shot. Officers located a male in his 20s suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to Strong Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The preliminary investigation found that two suspects allegedly attempted to rob the victim at gunpoint, during which time the victim was shot.
Two days later, on August 12, around 2am, Officers Clinton Section received information that a male inside of a 2023 Maserati was in possession of a handgun. Officers located the vehicle and attempted to stop it in the area of North Street and Clifford Avenue. The vehicle failed to stop and a short pursuit ensued, which ended after the vehicle tire(s) were flattened with spike strips and it hit a fire hydrant. Despite attempts to flee, three males were detained and a loaded 9mm Taurus handgun was recovered from the vehicle.
Detectives ultimately pieced together than the driver of the Maserati, 18-year old Laquan Gadsden and his 21- year old passenger Tyquan Lewis-Quiros, were responsible for the attempted robbery and shooting from two days earlier on Grover Street. Both Gadsden and Lewis-Quiros were transported to the Monroe County Jail and charged as follows:
Laquan Gadsden, age 18, is charged with Assault in the 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, and Attempted Robbery in the 1st and 2nd Degree for his actions on Grover Street. He is also charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, and Reckless Driving for his action on August 12.
Tyquan Lewis-Quiros, age 21, is charged with Assault in the 1st Degree and Attempted Robbery in the 1st and 2nd Degree.
