Miller brings more than 25 years of experience as an educator, school leader, and nonprofit CEO dedicated to transforming educational systems for excellence and equity. He most recently served as CEO of Charter Champions, where he built a network of supports to elevate the performance of Rochester’s charter schools. Prior to Charter Champions, Miller was CEO and principal of Green Tech Charter High School in Albany—a school serving over 95% Black males and nearly 90% low-income students—that under his leadership achieved a 95% graduation rate and 100% college acceptance rate.

A nationally recognized advocate for educational equity, Miller has been honored with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the Living Legend Award, and multiple leadership distinctions.

At EDceptional, Miller will lead the organization’s academic vision and strategy, guiding its efforts to enhance educational quality across the Greater Rochester area. His expertise in system-level reform, data-driven instruction, and culturally responsive leadership will be instrumental as EDceptional continues to strengthen charter school outcomes and expand access to high-quality education.

“Dr. Miller’s leadership will further EDceptional’s mission to help students thrive,” said Sebrone O. Johnson, CEO of EDceptional. “His proven ability to build equitable systems and inspire excellence will have a profound impact on the schools, educators, and students in Rochester.”

The author of six books—including From the Gutter to Greatness and We Need to Do Better—Miller’s work focuses on mindset transformation, culturally responsive leadership, and the vital link between family, community, and education. His forthcoming children’s book, The Good Me and The Hood Me, continues his mission to empower future generations to see the best within themselves.

A Rochester native, Miller holds an Ed.D. in Executive Leadership and an M.S. in Educational Leadership from St. John Fisher University, and a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Brockport.
