Rochester, NY - READY (Rochester Education and Development for Youth) will host its annual Bowling 4 STARS, presented by BRICK, on April 24, 2026, at 6 pm at Radio Social, 20 Carlson Rd, Rochester, NY 14610. The event will bring the community together for an evening of bowling, games, food and fun, all to support the next generation of educators.
The event aims to raise $50,000 for two initiatives: the READY STARS Scholarship Fund, which provides financial support to Rochester students pursuing careers in teaching, and the READY Teaching Academy, which provides high school students with mentorship, personal development, and hands‑on career preparation that builds confidence, strengthens community, and inspires them to pursue pathways into education.
In a city where the ratio of students of color to teachers of color differs greatly, the need for a more representative educator workforce is urgent. The READY STARS Scholarship Fund and the READY Teaching Academy helps address this gap by investing in students who reflect the communities they will one day serve.
“This event is about more than one night, it’s about building a stronger, more representative education system for Rochester,” said Shanai Lee, Executive Director of READY. “By investing in future educators, we’re investing in the long-term success of our students and our community.”
This year’s event is presented by BRICK, whose investment underscores a shared commitment to strengthening education and building pathways for future teachers.
“As we prepare to launch our school, we’re thinking beyond the classroom, we’re thinking about the future of education in Rochester,” said Dominique Lee, CEO of BRICK. “Supporting initiatives like Bowling 4 STARS is part of our commitment to investing in the community as a whole, including the next generation of educators who will shape student success for years to come.”
The scholarships, administered through the Urban League Black Scholars Program, will award five $5,000 scholarships to graduating seniors and college students pursuing careers in education.
Proceeds will also support READY’s Teaching Academy, which introduces high school students to careers in education through hands-on learning and mentorship. The academy is planning expansion into additional high schools in the coming year.
