Significant Arrests

Mazda Terrace:

Around 10:10pm, last night, Officers observed 20-year old Juelz Nelson sitting in the back seat of a 2017 Dodge Caravan, which was parked on Mazda Street in front of a vacant lot. Officers were familiar with Nelson due to his prior arrests and knew him to have bench warrants. Nelson attempted to flee Officers but was safely taken into custody. While taking Nelson into custody, Officers recovered a loaded 9mm “ghost gun” from his waistband. It was loaded with six rounds in a 17-round magazine. Nelson was transported to the Monroe County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned this morning in Rochester City Court.

Juelz Nelson, age 20, is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, and Resisting Arrest. He was also served with outstanding bench warrants.

It should be noted that Nelson has been arrested four other times this year, three of them involving felonies.

• June 30, 2026 – Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree and Harassment in the 2nd Degree.

• May 4, 2026 – Aggravated Criminal Contempt, Assault in the 3rd Degree, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree.

• March 26, 2026 – Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree and Harassment in the 2nd Degree.

• January 30, 2026 – Menacing in the 2nd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Genesee Street:

At 11:30pm, last night, Officers responded to the 200 block of Genesee Street for the report of a male stabbed. Officers located a male in his 60s suffering from multiple stab wounds to the torso. He was transported to Strong Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The victim reported that he was on Genesee Street when he observed the suspect yelling at an unknown female. The victim further stated that he told the suspect to leave the girl alone, which angered him, and a fight ensued. During the fight, the suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing on a bike.

Responding Officers located the suspect in the 800 block of Genesee Street. Despite his attempts to flee, Officers safely took him into custody on nearby Stratford Park. He was transported to the Monroe County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned this morning in Rochester City Court.

Cordell Lanier, age 48, is charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree. It should be noted that Lanier is currently on Parole for Murder in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree.
