SENATOR COONEY TO PRESENT 2025 WOMAN OF DISTINCTION AWARD TO ZOLA BROWN

(ROCHESTER, NY) - Wednesday, July 23rd at 5:30pm, Senator Jeremy Cooney (D-Rochester) will honor Zola Brown as this year’s recipient of the “NYS Women of Distinction” Award. Senator Cooney will explain that Zola was selected due to her decades of work in the 19th Ward and the community at-large as a union activist and advocate for social and economic justice.
Zola is a founding member and past Executive Vice President of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU) Rochester Chapter, an organizer of 1199SEIU’s Martin Luther Ling Jr. Celebration for over 20 years, and a champion for peace. She was awarded the key to the city in 2021 due to her contributions to our community.
The NYS Woman of Distinction award is annually presented to one woman in each senate district. Last year’s honoree was Daisy Rivera Algarin from the Town of Greece.
