Rochester, NY - Around 5:30pm, Officers responded to the 600 block of Conkey Avenue for the report of a shot fired from a black SUV. At the scene, Officers located evidence of a shot fired, that thankfully did not strike anyone. Within minutes, Officers observed a black 2018 Honda CRV, which they had previously seen in the area of the shot fired. A traffic stop was conducted in the 200 block of Portland Avenue and the 17-year old male operator was safely detained. During the stop, Officers observed a 9mm bullet in plain view in the driver seat foot well.
Officers drafted a search warrant for the vehicle and located a loaded 9mm Glock handgun, with a 30 round drum magazine, under the driver seat. The firearm had previously been reported stolen in the Town of Webster.
The 17-year old male was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, and violation(s) of the Vehicle and Traffic Law. His connection to the original shot fired call remains under investigation.
It should be noted, the 17-year old suspect, from Pittsford NY, was also charged with assaulting a Monroe County Sheriff Deputy in June (link below) and is on Probation for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree.
