The City of Rochester’s Pathways to Peace team has teamed up with Walking for Rochester to host free Peace

& Cleanup Barbecues on Wednesdays and Thursdays for the next three weeks. On August 13 and 14, 20 and 21, and 27 and 28, from 5 to 7 p.m., the groups will conduct a community cleanup on the first night, followed by a sizzling Peace Barbecue the next evening.
“The Peace & Cleanup Barbecues are an opportunity for residents to connect with their neighbors, meet our Pathways to Peace team, and help beautify the city,” said Mayor Evans. “Walking with Rochester will supply the brooms and trash bags as the Pathways to Peace street-level outreach team will fire up the grill in four city neighborhoods to build positive relationships with city residents, strengthen communities, and reduce youth violence.”
The Peace & Cleanup Barbecues will feature food catered by Tdj’s Southern Cuisine Catering along with music and engaging activities. The events will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations:
Wed., Aug. 13, and Thurs.,14 – at the corner of Hudson Ave. and Kosciusko St.
Wed., Aug. 20, and Thurs., 21 – at the corner of Flint St. and Jefferson Ave.
Wed., Aug. 27, and Thurs., 28 – in the parking lot of 57 St. Paul St.
Pathways to Peace is the City of Rochester’s violence prevention and intervention street-outreach team that works to establish personal, visible connections with city youth and provide resources, reduce disputes, and interrupt cycles of retaliation.
