Pathways to Peace Hosts Free Neighborhood Cleanup & Barbecue Events

The City of Rochester’s Pathways to Peace team has teamed up with Walking for Rochester to host Cleanup & Barbecue events starting this Thursday, Aug. 13 at Ave D and Conkey Ave. Join in the neighborhood cleanup from 4 to 5 p.m., then share a meal and build community over barbecue from 5 to 7 p.m.

Cleanup & Barbecues will continue in different locations on the following dates:

  • Thursday, Aug. 20, 4 to 7 p.m. at W. Main and Henion St.

  • Thursday, Aug. 27, 4 to 7 p.m. at Genesee and Orleans St.

  • Friday, Aug. 28, 5 to 7 p.m. at Don Samuel Torres Park, 70 Oakman St.

The final barbecue on Aug. 28 will include a friendly softball game instead of a cleanup.

“Pathways to Peace cleanups and barbecues are an opportunity for the community to come together, show pride in their city, and connect with one another over a good meal,” said Mayor Malik D. Evans. “I welcome community members across the city to join us in building a stronger, safer Rochester together.”

Within the City of Rochester’s Office of Violence Prevention, Pathways to Peace works in Rochester’s schools and neighborhoods to support youth and young adults, establish relationships, and provide resources to interrupt and prevent cycles of conflict and violence.
