ree

On 7/30/25 at approximately 11:13 p.m. a Rochester Police Department vehicle was involved in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Mt. Read Blvd./Lexington Ave.  The subsequent investigation revealed that a marked Rochester Police Department vehicle, occupied by one Rochester Police Officer, was traveling southbound on Mt. Read Blvd. approaching Lexington Ave.  It was further determined that the striking vehicle, a Chevrolet Equinox, operated by a 33 year old, male, City of Rochester resident, was traveling eastbound Lexington Ave. approaching Mt. Read Blvd.  The operator of the Equinox failed to stop for the red light at Lexington Ave./Mt. Read, entered the intersection, and struck the police vehicle.  This collision caused the police vehicle to strike a utility pole causing significant damage to the police vehicle.  The drive of the Equinox then fled the scene.

The involved police officer was transported via AMR ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries to the upper body.  The striking vehicle and driver were subsequently located in the area of Lexington Ave./Christopher Ct.  The driver of the striking vehicle wasn’t injured during the motor vehicle accident.  He was issued citations for Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, Unlicensed Operator, and Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device.
