WHAT: In commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a Mobile Museum of Tolerance (MMOT) educator will join this year’s Pittsford CommUNITY Martin Luther King Jr. Living the Dream Series, featuring two of the MMOT’s signature workshop films, Civil Rights Movement and Witness to History. Community members will also participate in a live panel discussion with local community representatives, including Rochester Mayor Malik Evans, at the United Church of Pittsford. Mayor of the Village of Pittsford, Alysa Plummer, will also be in attendance.
Since 2018, the community event has invited Pittsford-area residents together to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy and impact, to foster connection between communities.
The Mobile Museum of Tolerance, an educational initiative of the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, brings facilitator-led workshops designed to combat hate and promote greater tolerance to the doorsteps of schools and communities across the country. At a time of increasing division and hate, using the lessons of history to teach tolerance is more urgent than ever.
Members of the media are invited to attend. A certified Mobile Museum of Tolerance educator will be on-site and available for interviews.
WHEN: Wednesday, January 14, 2026, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
WHERE: United Church of Pittsford, 123 South Main Street, Pittsford, NY 14534
WHY: Amid growing concerns about hate, prejudice, and rising intolerance, communities are seeking meaningful ways to help community members examine history and understand its impact on the world today. The Mobile Museum of Tolerance is proud to participate in this year’s Pittsford Martin Luther King Jr. Living the Dream Series, which directly aligns with the MMOT’s mission to combat hate, foster inclusive communities, and promote greater tolerance.
By connecting historical lessons to present-day challenges facing young people, the MMOT’s workshops support active participation and reflection, helping Pittsford community members confront intolerance, strengthen empathy, and play a role in making their own community more inclusive.
