Fairport, N.Y. – It’s often said that the best things in life are free and on Thursday, October 15, Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, is giving community members the purrrfect opportunity to experience love, comfort, and companionship during Free Cat Day. Potential adopters are asked to bring their own cat carrier for transportation.

For one day only, adoption fees for cats will be completely waived at both Lollypop Farm’s main campus in Fairport and its adoption center at The Mall at Greece Ridge. Lollypop Farm’s normal adoption protocols and procedures will remain in place. Kittens are not included in this promotion. Additionally, appointments will not be required during this event and potential adopters will be assisted on a first-come, first-served approach.

“Events like Free Cat Day serve so many purposes,” said Alice Calabrese, President and CEO at Lollypop Farm. “With hundreds of cats currently in our care and countless more in need across our region, this day gives us the chance to unite with our community, place animals in loving homes, and open space for others who rely on our services.”

With large crowds expected at Lollypop Farm’s main campus in Fairport, check-in for the event will begin at 9:30 a.m., and adoptions will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or until the line reaches capacity. Lollypop Farm’s Adoption Center at The Mall at Greece Ridge will operate under its normal hours or until there are no pets available. To alleviate congestion after reserving a spot in line, community members are asked to

return to their vehicle or wait offsite due to limited parking where they will be contacted by a staff member prior to their appointment.

For those unable to make a long-term commitment like adoption, Lollypop Farm also offers a comprehensive foster program. This initiative allows community members to temporarily provide a safe, nurturing environment for animals in need. All necessary supplies, veterinary care, and support are provided by Lollypop Farm. If you’re interested in becoming a temporary foster care provider, complete the registration form.
