The International Plaza, 828 N. Clinton Ave., continues its free-admission August Market Day Sunday event series on Sunday, August 17 with DJ Big Reg & Friends (1 to 5 p.m.). Along with special guest performances, DJ Big Reg will provide beats guaranteed to bring the energy and keep the crowd moving.

The International Plaza brings the world to Rochester with a global mosaic of special events and vending opportunities that celebrate the music, food and arts of the Latino and immigrant communities who greatly enhance the city’s cultural vibrancy and economic vitality.

The Plaza is open for regular business May through October. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, merchants and artisans at the Plaza offer a wide variety of international cuisine, arts and crafts. And from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays (unless otherwise noted), the Plaza hosts the Market Day event series of free, family-friendly community celebrations that can feature live performances of music and art, demonstrations of cultural traditions, and recognitions of the people who keep the history and heritage of their homelands alive in Rochester.

Additional August Market Day events will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on the following Sundays:

  • Aug. 24: International Salsa Day; and

  • Aug. 31: The International Car Show.

A special free Arts at the Plaza event will also be held from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16. This event will feature mural painting and music, with Rochester’s own FUA Krew muralists—Range, SNO, and ZONE transforming the food kiosks at the Plaza into colorful works of art. DJ Junior will provide the soundtrack to the creative expression.

Community organizations and merchants are invited to explore the vending opportunities the International Plaza offers. Tent stands are available starting at just $20 per event.
