Rochester, N.Y. — The long-running hit from the West End and Broadway comes to Geva! In The Play That Goes Wrong, the intrepid thespians of the Cornley Drama Society are more or less ready to raise the curtain on the grandest production the village has ever seen, The Murder at Haversham Manor – until things go from bad to calamitous. Written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields and originally directed by Benjamin Hanna with Remount Director cara hinh.
There’s an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that won’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines) – and that’s only the first act. It’s nothing you want in a show – and everything you want in a comedy! The Play that Goes Wrong runs on the Wilson Stage September 9 – October 12, 2025. Tickets are on sale now; visit GevaTheatre.org or call the Box Office at 585-232-4382.
"We’re so delighted to be partnering with Ban Hanna, cara hinh, and Indiana Repertory Theatre on this laugh-out-loud production of The Play That Goes Wrong!” said Geva Artistic Director Elizabeth Williamson. “One Indianapolis critic wrote, “In my 25-odd years as a critic, I have never seen anything as gloriously, chaotically funny as the Indiana Repertory Theatre’s staging of The Play That Goes Wrong” and another said it made them realize “sometimes you don’t realize how badly you needed to laugh until your sides are aching, and your face hurts.” I’m looking forward to launching our 2025-26 Season here in Rochester with this gloriously funny production!"
