Finch Street Attempted Murder Arrest

Rochester, NY - Around 6:15am, on September 18, Officers responded to a house on Finch Street for the report of a person shot. Officers located the victim, a female in her 20s, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Officers immediately began rendering life-saving medical aide and she was transported by ambulance to Strong Hospital in life-threatening condition. Thankfully, the medical staff at Strong Hospital were able to stabilize her and she is expected to survive her injuries.
During the preliminary investigation, conducted by Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section’s Non- Fatal Shooting Unit, it was learned that the suspect and victim were known to each other via a third party male. On the date of the shooting, it is alleged that the suspect, 43-year old Soraya Rodriguez, climbed through a window and shot the victim while she was lying in bed.
Yesterday, the United States Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended Rodriguez during a traffic stop in Buffalo, New York. She was transported to the Monroe County Jail and arraigned this morning in Rochester City Court.
Soraya Rodriguez, age 43, is charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 1st Degree, Burglary in the 1st Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree.
