Emerson Street Shooting Arrests

ree

Rochester, NY- On October 7, around 9:20pm, Officers responded to the 100 block of Emerson Street for a ShotSpotter activation indicating multiple gunshots. Once on-scene, Officers located an 18-year old male suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to Strong Hospital with serious, life threatening injuries. Thankfully, the medical staff at Strong Hospital were able to stabilize him, leading to the injuries to be considered no longer life threatening.

During the preliminary investigation, Officers stopped a truck on Otis Street and identified a potential suspect. Additionally, two different 9mm handguns were located in the immediate area of the shots fired. The preliminary investigation also found that the victim was walking eastbound on Emerson Street and two suspects were walking westbound when at least one of the suspects shot the victim before fleeing. During the investigation, both suspects were identified.

On October 10, the Rochester Police Department’s SWAT team executed a search warrant at a location on Byers Court. A 17-year old male was taken into custody and transported to the Children’s Detention Center.

Yesterday, the Rochester Police Department’s Tactical Unit located the second suspect, a 16-year old make, leaving a residence on South Plymouth Avenue and safely took him into custody. He was transported to the Children’s Detention Center.

Both the 16 and 17-year old suspects have been charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 1st Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree.
