On April 13, 2022, around 10:15am, Officers responded to the corner of Thurston Road and Chili Avenue for the report of a male shot. Officers located a male in his 20s suffering from at least one serious gunshot wound to the torso. The victim was transported to Strong Hospital, where the medical team was able to stabilize his injuries in the operating room.
The preliminary investigation found that there was an altercation between the victim and the suspect outside of the corner store. During the altercation, the suspect fired at least one round from a handgun before fleeing the scene.
Recently, Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit gained information indicating 23-year old Jamody Clemons was the suspected shooter. Yesterday, the United States Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force located Clemons as he was leaving a Probation appointment and safely took him into custody. Clemons is currently on probation relative to a 2024 arrest in which he was found in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun.
Clemons was transported to the Monroe County Jail, arraigned in CAP Court, and currently held on $250,000 bail.
Jamody Clemons, age 23, is charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree.
