Adult Education Services Graduates

Rochester, NY – Action for a Better Community (ABC) will celebrate the accomplishments of Adult Education Services (AES) graduates during its Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at 400 West Avenue in Rochester.

ABC’s AES program helps adults earn a New York State High School Equivalency diploma through four pathways — GED, NEDP, Regents, or 24 hours of college credit — opening doors to higher education, industry certifications, and better employment. The program also serves New Americans through English language education, with open enrollment and flexible scheduling year-round.

AES continues to show measurable impact. Since June 2025, 14 participants have passed at least one GED sub-test and 7 have earned their HSE diploma. ABC administered 622 GED tests in 2025, up 23% from 505 in 2024 — reflecting both growing demand and community trust in the program.

“The success of our AES participants demonstrates the power of perseverance and the impact that access to education can have on a person’s life. Their achievements strengthen not only their own futures, but also their families and our communities,” said Mubarak Bashir, Vice President for Youth and Community Services.

For graduate Nellyhann Rosario, the journey was personal. After an earlier attempt at her GED fell short, she came to ABC determined to build a better future for her children. “I started to see that I was capable of learning things that once seemed impossible,” she said. “Success isn’t about never struggling — it’s about continuing even when things are hard.” Rosario is now preparing to pursue college and a career with greater opportunity.

The ceremony will feature remarks from Mubarak Bashir; Jerome H. Underwood, President and CEO; Leslie Mosman; and the graduates, followed by diploma presentations and a reception. Members of the media are invited to attend. A graduate will be available for interviews; contact Christopher Bell at cbell@abcinfo.org or (585) 202-6992.
