71 Additional Asylum Seekers Arrive in Rochester from New York City

There are 71 additional asylum seekers “settled in” at the Downtown Holiday Inn, according to Monroe County officials.

These most recent newcomers to the United States arrived in Rochester from New York City on Tue., Sep. 5, 2023.

The additional asylees include 19 families (33 adults and 38 children): 11 from Venezuela, 1 from Ecuador/Venezuela, 1 from Ecuador, 2 from Peru, 1 from Nicaragua, and 3 from Columbia.

Their primary language is Spanish.
