Rochester, NY- A little after 7pm, on 8/14/25 , Officers were on Weyl Street regarding a call for a stolen vehicle. Around 7:45pm, while officers were still working on the initial call, two males ran across Weyl Street with shots being fired amongst them. Officer(s) followed the two males into the backyard of a house in the 100 block of Weyl Street. At that point, an Officer fired at least one round from his department issued handgun, striking one of the males.
Preliminarily, it appears that the suspect, a male in his 40s was shot by an Officer in the upper body. He was transported to Strong Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The other male, in his 30s, appears to have been shot by the suspect in the upper body. He was transported to Strong Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officers recovered a handgun from the backyard, where the shooting occurred, and a quantity of suspected narcotics from the roadway. The incident is under investigation by the Major Crimes Section, Professional Standards Section, and the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
At this point, it does not appear that the shooting incident is related to the stolen vehicle incident that the Officers were initially investigating.
