Weld Street Shots Fired Arrests

Rochester, NY- Around 8pm, last night, Officers responded to the 100 block of Weld Street for the report of multiples gunshots heard. Officers located evidence of shots fired and a 2012 Audi that had been struck by gunfire. Approximately one hour later, Officers in the area of Kenilworth Terrace observed the suspects from the Weld Street shots fired incident and attempted to stop them. A 17-year old male was quickly detained and a 9mm “ghost gun”, loaded with nine rounds in a 40 round magazine, was located in his waistband. 20-year old Jahmir McMorris ran from Officers, during which time he discarded a 9mm Glock handgun, which was loaded with 12 rounds in a 30 round magazine. He was safely taken into custody following the foot chase.
The investigation found that McMorris was responsible for firing the shots on Weld Street and transported to the Monroe County Jail. The 17-year old suspect was transported to Youth Part Court for arraignment.
Jahmir McMorris, age 20, is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, and Prohibited Use of a Weapon.
17-year old male is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd and 3rd Degree.
