ree

The Central Library of Rochester & Monroe County is proud to return as a host site for the 2025 ESL Rochester Fringe Festival from Tuesday, Sept. 9, through Saturday, Sept. 20, offering four new and exciting performances that are free and open to the public. The events will take place at the Bausch & Lomb Public Library building and the historic Rundel Memorial Library building, located at 115 South Ave.

The Fringe events at the Central Library will immerse attendees in the library’s vast collection of books, music, movies, and more:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., the 14th Annual Juried International Art of the Book & Paper exhibit will take place; join the Artists’ Reception from 5 to 7 p.m. to explore the display and meet participating artists.

  • Saturday, Sept. 13 and 20, from 12 noon to 1 p.m., enjoy Script-in-Hand Players for an hour of original short plays, essays, and monologues that are touching, comedic, and satirical, performed by Rochester writers and artists in the style of Readers’ Theater.

  • Saturday, Sept. 13, from 3 to 4 p.m., experience the Lunchador Podcast-a-Rama in the Kate Gleason Auditorium. Join the Lunchador Podcast Network for a fun, fast-paced exploration of podcasts, where hosts will lead short, impromptu, and thought-provoking conversations about the arts, culture, food, and all the great things Rochester has to offer.

  • Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7:30 p.m., enjoy Spooky Stories in the Stacks at the Rundel Memorial Library Building. Join Central Library staff for an after-hours tour of the Rundel building to explore the maze of closed basement stacks, see the attractive main floor from a staff perspective, and perhaps meet some of the building's “secret” guests. (Tours are on a first-come, first-served basis.)

To request an interpreter for a show, please call 428-8304 at least ten days before the event, or submit an online form here.
