Texas Street Robbery and Gun Arrest

Rochester, NY- Around 8:30pm, last night, Officers responded to Texas Street for the report of a gunpoint robbery. The teenage victim reported that he was walking on Texas Street, when the suspect stole his backpack from him at gunpoint. Approximately one hour later, a Lake Section Officer stopped a 2008 Toyota, on Jones Avenue, for violation(s) of the Vehicle and Traffic Law. During the stop, the Officer recognized that the driver, and only occupant of the vehicle, matched the description of the earlier robbery and the victim’s backpack was on the front seat of the truck.
When Officers asked the driver to exit the vehicle, he drove off. Officers pursued the truck to the 300 block of Campbell Street, where it stopped and the driver was taken into custody. While arresting the driver, Officers located a loaded SCCY 9mm handgun in his underwear. All of the victim’s property was recovered and the suspect, a 15-year old male, was transported to the Children’s Detention Center.
The 15-year old male is charged with Robbery in the 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, and Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree.
