Teens Crash Stolen Kias

The Rochester Police Department(RPD) has confirmed two simultaneous chases ended when one car crashed in Lamberton Park and the other on West High Terrace.

Law enforcement reported police officers were called to the 100 block of Bronson Ct. following a report of a gunpoint robbery. Upon reaching the scene, the report states they spoke to a 17-year-old male resident who had been robbed of personal belongings by a group of teenage boys, one of whom was brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. The victim reported that he feared for his safety and handed over his possessions as demanded. The group allegedly fled to two stolen Kia cars waiting nearby.

The report revealed additional officers located both stolen vehicles involved in the robbery in the 300 block of Lyell Ave. It alleges that despite attempts to pull the drivers over, they refused to stop, prompting a pursuit. The suspects reportedly split up, leading to two separate chases. One chase concluded in Lamberton Park after the stolen vehicle collided with three parked cars. Following a brief chase on foot, a 16-year-old suspect was apprehended. The other ended when the stolen vehicle crashed on the 300 block of West High Terrace. Three suspects, aged 13, 15, and 16, were arrested without sustaining injuries, law enforcement confirmed.

RPD confirmed an investigation is underway to determine if the detained individuals were linked to the initial robbery, with potential charges pending.
