On July 20, around 5am, Officers responded to the 500 block of State St. for the report of a person shot. Officers arrived on-scene to find evidence of shots fired, but no victims. A short time later, a 43-year old male and 40-year old female arrived at Strong Hospital suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wound(s) to the lower body. A third victim, 47-year old male, arrived at Rochester General Hospital suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the upper body.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit were assigned the investigation. The preliminary investigation found that there was an after-hours type party that was letting out in the area. During this time, there was an argument and 35-year old Tyrese Beard allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired multiple rounds, striking the three victims.
Yesterday, the United States Marshal’s Service, along with the New York State Police and the Rochester Police Department’s Violence Prevention Section, located Beard in a traffic stop on N. Clinton Ave. and safely took him into custody. He was transported to the Monroe County Jail and is currently being held without bail.
Tyrese Beard, age 35, is charged with three counts of Attempted Murder, three counts of Assault in the 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree.
