Rochester, NY - On January 22, 2025, around 8pm, Officers responded to the intersection of Otis Street and Myrtle Street for the report of a motor vehicle accident. Officers located a female in her 20s suffering from a significant gunshot wound to the upper body. She was transported by ambulance to Strong Hospital and treated for serious, life- altering, injuries.
Over the last year, Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section’s Non Fatal Shooting Unit worked this investigation, including interview multiple people, search warrant(s), gathered electronic evidence and obtained other key pieces of information. This ultimately developed information that 19-year old Emiah Cason allegedly shot the victim during a robbery.
Yesterday, the Rochester Police Department’s Tactical Unit located Cason walking on Dr. Samuel McCree Way and safely took her into custody. She was transported to the Monroe County Jail and arraigned in Rochester City Court.
Emiah Cason, age 19, is charged with Assault in the 1st Degree, Robbery in the 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree and Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree.
