Murder Investigation Update : 860 Dewey Ave. 8/27/25

On August 27, 2025 at about 3:45 PM 49-year-old Gary Morgan was driven to the St. Mary’s Medical Campus at 89 Genesee St. in a private vehicle. He was suffering from multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. It was learned the stabbing occurred at the intersection of Dewey Ave. and Driving Pk. Ave.

During the course of the investigation, Major Crimes Detectives identified the suspect as Gary Morgan’s 31-year-old stepdaughter, Keyanna Richards. It is alleged that when Morgan confronted Richards over items she stole from his apartment, she stabbed him multiple times.

Richards was taken into custody following a vehicle stop earlier today by the United States Marshal’s Violent Felony Fugitive Task Force. She has been charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree and is currently being held in the Monroe County Jail. She is expected to be arraigned tomorrow at 9:30 AM in Rochester City Court on the murder charge, as well as two outstanding felony fugitive warrants for her arrest:

1. Sangamon County Illinois for Burglary - Home Invasion/Cause Injury

2. Polk County Florida for Burglary with Assault Battery.
