Rochester, NY- On August 23, 2025, at about 4:30 PM, officers were called to 435 Smith St. for the report of a male shot. Officers arrived and found 68-year-old Gilberto Morales-Cruz unresponsive on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts by police and EMS personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide Detectives are in the process of determining the circumstances that led up to the shooting of Morales-Cruz. There are currently no suspects in custody.
The Major Crimes Homicide Unit is conducting the investigation and is asking anyone
