GREECE, N.Y. (WROC) — A suspect is in custody after the Greece Police Department shut down part of Brayton Road for a domestic incident involving a firearm. News 8 crews were on scene Tuesday morning and saw at least one patrol car blocking off Brayton Rd. between Dewey Avenue and Tait Avenue. Police confirmed the scene was secured in order to safely get several people out of a home in the area — except for the suspect. A response from the SWAT Team was activated. Greece Police confirmed just after 2:30 p.m. that the incident has been resolved and the suspect has been taken into custody.
“He finally let us know where he was in the basement as we neared finding him with our SWAT assets,” Deputy Chief Zenelovic said.
Officers said the 19-year-old male is known to police, and the investigation into what happened Tuesday morning continues.
“We’ll be searching, doing our search, which is going to take us hours,” Deputy Chief Zenelovic said.
Chuck Monachino lives on Brayton Road and had seen the scene develop all morning.
“I thought somebody was killed because of so much presence of the police,” he said. “It doesn’t make me feel good. It doesn’t really scare me personally, but I don’t like to see it.”
There is no danger to the public and the street has reopened.
