ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A retirement community in Penfield will be shutting down in September.
Legacy at Grande’Vie, a Watermark retirement community, announced it will be closing. The reason for the closure is due to financial challenges and the need for significant investment in the building.
News 8 reached out to Watermark Retirement Communities and they said it will be permanently closed on September 30, 2025. The closing will begin in two phases — independent living residents will be given a 30-day notice, and assisted living and memory care relocations will be ongoing.
The team says they will work with residents and families to undergo a smooth transition process and provide options for senior living communities in the area. Associates will be given information on communities seeking new employment. For independent living residents, they will be refunded their contractual amount due within 30 days of their move-out date. Unoccupied independent living residences will get their refunds in approximately 30 days.
