Jog With Jesus

Rochester, NY - Rochester Affinity is beta-testing a new approach to church planting called Jog With Jesus in Rochester and will soon begin trying the concept in Buffalo, New York. The idea is simple: On Sundays, meet two church members at a local park, pray together, and spend 20 minutes walking or jogging together. Each gathering begins and ends with a short prayer. "There is no cost, membership requirement, fundraising request, or obligation to attend a church service," says Jomo Johnson, the lead church planter.
“We wanted to start with people rather than a building,” says Jomo K. Johnson, founder of Rochester Affinity. “Sometimes church can begin with something as simple as taking a run together and getting to know someone.”
Participants don't need to be runners. Walking, jogging, or simply moving at a comfortable pace is welcome. The Rochester program is currently being beta-tested, with Buffalo now serving as a second beta-test community. One Sunday. One park. Twenty minutes. Two people. A prayer.
