City Celebrates Young Artists at 2026 Mayors for Peace Art Competition Awards Ceremony

Rochester, NY - Mayor Malik D. Evans hosted a ceremony at City Hall this evening to announce the winners of the 2026 Mayors for Peace Art Competition and to celebrate the young artists who submitted artwork.
“In a world that often feels uncertain, these talented young artists have delivered powerful messages of peace and hope for a better future,” said Mayor Evans. “I am proud that Rochester is one of the member cities of the Mayors for Peace Initiative, an organization that promotes peace education. Congratulations to all our winners and thank you to everyone who participated and shared their vision of peace with us.”
Mayors for Peace is a consortium of more than 8,600 member cities in 166 countries and regions worldwide, with the mission of attaining lasting world peace. Each year, Mayors for Peace holds a children’s art competition for youth ages 6 to 15. Ten winners from Rochester will advance to compete for the prestigious Mayors for Peace President’s Award at the International Mayors for Peace Competition in Hiroshima, Japan. The international winner will be announced in early December.
Artwork submitted for this competition will be on display in the Link Gallery, located in City Hall, 30 Church St., through the end of October. The Link Gallery is free, accessible, and open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
