Jefferson Avenue Arrest

Rochester, NY- On October 2, around 10:15pm, Officers responded to the 600 block of Jefferson Avenue for the report of a male shot. Officers located the victim, a male in his 20s, suffering from significant head trauma and a gunshot wound to the torso. He was transported to Strong Hospital in critical condition and upgraded to stable condition following a prolonged surgery.
During the preliminary investigation, Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section learned that victim and suspect were known to each other and had prior issues. During the incident, the suspect allegedly struck the victim with a revolver and then shot him. Detectives identified the suspect as 55-year old Marcus Canady, a City of Rochester resident.
On October 27, the United States Marshal’s Task Force located Canady leaving a house on Shelter Street. Detectives executed a search warrant at the location and located a .38 caliber revolver. Canady was transported to the Monroe County Jail.
Marcus Canady, age 55, is charged with Assault in the 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree.
