Fairbanks Street Gun Arrest

Just after noon, yesterday, Officers from the Violence Prevention Section responded to an address on Fairbanks Street for the report of a family trouble in which a male was attempting to hide a firearm. During the subsequent investigation, Officers located a backpack containing almost 200 rounds of various calibers of ammunition and an Anderson Manufacturing 300 blackout AM-15 pistol, which was loaded with 1 round in the chamber and 27 rounds in the magazine.
The suspect, 23-year old Lazareth Unzueta was safely taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Jail. Lazareth Unzueta, age 23, is charged with Harassment in the 2nd Degree for his actions in the domestic incidentas well as Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree and three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree for his firearm possession.
It should be noted, that Unzueta was arrested January 14, of this year, during a search warrant executed by the Rochester Police Department’s SWAT Team. The warrant was in relation to him allegedly shooting a male on November 1, 2024, in the 200 block of Central Park. Additionally, at the time of his arrest by the SWAT Team, he was found in possession of a .40 caliber Glock handgun, which was equipped with a switch to make it fire fully automatically, and a disassembled 9mm “ghost gun.” He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd and 3rd Degree for his possession of the firearms during the search warrant and Assault in the 2nd Degree/Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree for allegedly shooting the male on Central Park. Per Court Records, Unzueta plead guilty on June 30, 2025, for an agreed upon sentence of 15 years in prison.
He is out of custody pending sentencing, which is scheduled for October. Unzueta was arraigned this morning in Rochester City Court and is currently being held on 15k bail or bond.
