Driving Park Bridge Investigation

ree

On 7/31/25 at approximately 9:23 p.m., Rochester Police officers were flagged down by a 28 year old, female, City of Rochester resident who advised that she had been accosted by a group of individuals on dirt bikes, with one of the dirt bike operators discharging a firearm in close proximity to the victim.

The subsequent investigation revealed that while in the area of the Driving Park Bridge/St. Paul St. the victim was in her vehicle when she was surrounded by several individuals on dirt bikes.  These individuals followed the victim, striking her vehicle with their hands and feet.  During this altercation one of the dirt bike operators discharged a firearm in close proximity to the victim and her vehicle.  The victim was eventually able to flag down police and advise them of the incident.

A short time later officers located the group of dirt bike operators involved in the incident.  Officers attempted to affect a traffic stop however said group failed to comply and fled from police.  A pursuit was authorized, during which one of the operators drove into a wooded area bordering the Maplewood Rose Gardens and Genesee River Gorge.  This individual then continued to flee on foot and eventually became trapped on a steep embankment above the river.

Due to the original incident involving a firearm, the Rochester Police Department SWAT responded and with the assistance of the Rochester Fire Department, performed a high angle rescue, thereby taking the fleeing operator into custody.  The individual taken into custody is a 22 year old, male, City of Rochester resident.  He was transported via AMR to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.  He has been charged with Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer along with other vehicle and traffic violations.

The investigation related to the shots fired incident is on-going at this time
