Dog Shooting Arrest

Rochester, NY - On May 5, 2026, Officers responded to an address on First Street for the report of a dog shot. Officers located a 3-year old French Bulldog suffering from a gunshot wound to the rear leg. Thankfully, the dog survived its injuries.
The preliminary investigation found that the suspect was walking on the sidewalk when “Miracle” barked at him. The suspect pulled out a handgun and fired at least one round, striking “Miracle” in a rear leg before fleeing the scene. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section ultimately identified the suspect as 46-year old Wesley Brown.
Yesterday, the United States Marshal’s Task Force located Brown on Barton Street and safely took him into custody. He was transported to the Monroe County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned this morning in Rochester City Court.
Wesley Brown, age 46, is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, and Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree. He is unable to possess a firearm in New York State due to previous criminal convictions, which include Robbery in the 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree.
