Columbia Avenue Shooting Arrest

On August 24, around 10:30pm, Officers responded to Strong Hospital for the report of a walk-in gunshot victim. The victim, a male in his 30s, was found to be suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the torso. Officers eventually determined that the shooting took place in the 300 block of Columbia Avenue.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section learned that the victim had just been introduced to the suspect, via a mutual acquaintance. For an unknown reason, the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim, causing a serious injury.
Detectives identified 34-year old Jayquill Snowden as the suspected shooter. This morning, the United States Marshal’s Task Force located Snowden in the 1300 block of Clifford Avenue and safely took him into custody. He was transported to the Monroe County Jail and is expected to be arraigned,tonight, in CAP Court.
Jayquill Snowden, age 34, is charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree.
