City of Rochester Presents RPO Under the Stars Free Outdoor Concert on Friday, July 11 at Parcel 5

A Downtown Definitely Series Event

Rochester, New York, July 7, 2025 — The City of Rochester and Downtown Definitely Events are proud to present RPO Under the Stars, a free outdoor concert featuring the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) conducted by Jherrard Hardeman, on Friday, July 11 at Parcel 5 in downtown Rochester.

Now in its fourth year, this beloved summer tradition invites the community to enjoy a beautiful live performance under the open sky. This year’s program, Music from Stage & Screen,  pays tribute to iconic American composers including Rodgers & Hammerstein (The Sound of Music), John Williams (themes from LincolnE.T.:

the Extra-Terrestrial, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones), and Omar Thomas', whose 2018 jazz-infused "Come Monday,"  is an uplifting tribute to music and faith.

The event begins at 6 p.m. The Flower City Pride Band performs at 6:30 p.m., followed by the RPO at 8 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for a comfortable listening experience.

Sidewalk astronomy will be set up with telescopes for anyone to use to look up at the night sky courtesy of the Rochester Museum and Science Center.

RPO Under the Stars is presented by the City of Rochester in partnership with Downtown Definitely Events.
