Baldwin Street Shots Fired Arrest

Rochester, NY - Around 5:30pm, on February 14, Officers responded to the 400 block of Hayward Avenue for the report of shots fired. While in the area, Officers were flagged down by the residents of a home on Baldwin Street. The residents informed Officers that their house had been shot into. At the scene, Officers located evidence of shots fired, which included a bullet hole in the front door of the house, which was occupied at the time, and two cars had been struck by gunfire. Thankfully, no one was injured.
The preliminary investigation found that this was domestic violence related and that the suspect was the ex boyfriend of one of the house’s occupants. STRIVE (Statewide Targeted Reductions in Intimate Partner Violence) Details were initiated and attempts to locate the suspect began. On February 18, the United States Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force located the suspect on Holmes Street and safely took him into custody. 19-year old Ondre Smith was transported to the Monroe County Jail. Yesterday, he was arraigned in Rochester City Court by Judge White and released with non-monetary conditions.
Ondre Smith, age 19, is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree.
