Assault On An Officer Arrests

Rochester, NY- Around 3:45pm, on October 31, an Officer was at a residence on Bartlett Street conducting a follow up investigation into a domestic related issue. The investigation determined that 51-year old Kina Wilcox was under arrest for Custodial Interference. Wilcox pulled away from the Officer and began to hit him, including pulling the corded microphone from his radio and striking him with it. Additionally, Wilcox’s 18-year old daughter, Kahmyia Coats entered the room and began to strike the Officer and her 16-year old son interfered by pushing the Officer away while the others continued to strike at the Officer. Once backup arrived, Officers were able to safely take all three suspects into custody.


The Officer was treated at a local hospital for head/facial injuries and is currently out of work while he recovers.


Kina Wilcox, age 51, is charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, and Custodial Interference in the 2nd Degree.


Kahmyia Coats, age 18, is charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree.


16-year old male is charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree.


Both Wilcox and Coats were arraigned in Rochester City Court and released with non-monetary conditions.
