Assault Against An Officer Arrest

Rochester, NY - Around 9pm, last night, Officers responded to the 600 block of East Main Street for the report of an altercation. Upon arrival, they located the victim, a local business owner, suffering from a non-life threatening upper body injury. The victim reported that he owns a business in the 300 block of East Avenue and that the suspect, 35- year old Marcus Tookes, had entered the business and stole the tip jar before running away. The victim located Tookes in the 500 block of East Main Street, where Tookes allegedly punched the victim multiple times before fleeing.


Officers located Tookes nearby, where Officers took him into custody. During the arrest, Tookes fought the Officers, causing an upper body injury to a responding Sergeant. Tookes was transported to the Monroe County Jail, the Sergeant was treated and released from a local hospital, and the business owner was treated at the scene.


Marcus Tookes, age 35, is charged with Assault in the 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree, and Petit Larceny. He was arraigned in Rochester City Court and is currently being held in the Monroe County Jail pending bail.


It should be noted that this is Tookes’ fourth arrest of the week.


November 30 – Trespass. Arraigned in Rochester City Court and Released on his own recognizance,


December 1 – Trespass. Arraigned in CAP Court and released with non-monetary conditions.


December 3 – Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree, and Resisting Arrest. Arraigned in CAP Court and released on his own recognizance.
