Rochester General Hospital Unveils $1.5M Cardiac Catheterization Lab Upgrade

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester General Hospital has unveiled a $1.5 million renovation of one of its cardiac catheterization labs, marking a major investment in advanced cardiovascular care and patient safety just as Heart Month begins.

The fully renovated lab features upgraded technology and modernized infrastructure designed to support increasingly complex cardiac procedures, improve efficiency, and enhance the clinical environment for both patients and care teams. The project was funded by Rochester Regional Health as part of a broader strategy to maintain state-of-the-art medical facilities across the region.

Hospital officials said the renovation replaces aging equipment and end-of-life systems in one of the hospital’s most critical treatment areas. Rochester General’s cardiac teams perform more than 5,600 procedures annually across four catheterization labs, making the upgrade central to meeting ongoing and future demand for heart care services.

“This renovation is about much more than new technology; it’s about investing in the health of our community for decades to come,” said Tammy Snyder, president and chief operating officer of Rochester General Hospital. “By upgrading this essential space, we’re ensuring our teams have the tools and environment they need to deliver the highest level of cardiac care, today and into the future.”

The upgraded lab was designed to support safer procedures and more advanced interventions, reflecting a long-term commitment to cardiovascular innovation. Hospital leaders emphasized that the improvements also benefit physicians, nurses, technologists, and interdisciplinary teams who rely on cutting-edge equipment to deliver lifesaving care.

The project highlights ongoing collaboration between Rochester General Hospital and the Sands Constellation Heart Institute, which work together to advance clinical excellence and continuous improvement in heart care. Officials said the partnership aligns with Rochester Regional Health’s goal of becoming a national model for health and healing by bringing forward-thinking medical solutions directly to patients in the communities they serve.

Rochester Regional Health operates nine hospitals across Western and Central New York and is the region’s second-largest employer, providing a wide range of hospital, outpatient, behavioral health, laboratory, and senior services.
