Rochester City School District Superintendent Dr. Eric Jay Rosser will meet with community members Saturday, Oct. 17, for a public discussion about the future of Rochester schools.

The meeting, organized in partnership with F.I.G.H.T. and the Green Party of Monroe County, will begin at noon at FIGHT Village, 186 Ward St. in Rochester.

The event, promoted under the message “Your Voice Matters, Rochester,” is intended to provide residents with an opportunity to share their concerns, ideas and vision for the Rochester City School District.

Organizers are encouraging parents, students, educators and other community stakeholders to participate in the discussion and make their voices heard.

The gathering comes as the district continues to face significant challenges involving student academic performance, attendance, school safety and the need to rebuild public confidence in Rochester's educational system.

The meeting offers Rosser an opportunity to hear directly from residents about their experiences with the district and what they believe should be prioritized to improve educational opportunities for Rochester students.

Community engagement remains an important component of efforts to address longstanding educational disparities, particularly in neighborhoods where families have expressed concerns about student achievement, access to resources and the quality of public education.

The involvement of F.I.G.H.T., a Rochester organization with a history of advocating for social and economic justice, also places the discussion within the broader context of community involvement and accountability in public education.

According to organizers, Rosser wants to hear directly from Rochester residents about their concerns and recommendations for the district's future.

The meeting is open to the public, and organizers emphasize that all are welcome.

Event details: Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at noon, FIGHT Village, 186 Ward St., Rochester, NY 14605
