N. Clinton Avenue Shooting Arrest

Rochester, NY - Around 2pm, on June 6, Officers responded to Rochester General Hospital for the report of a walk-in shooting victim. Officers located the victim, a male in his 30s, suffering from multiple non-life threatening gunshot wounds to the upper body.
During the preliminary investigation, Officers and Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section’s Non-Fatal Shooting Unit determined the incident location to be in the 800 block of N. Clinton Avenue. It was learned that the victim was sitting in his car, outside of the grocery store, when the suspect approached and fired multiple shots into the car, striking the victim. Further investigation identified the suspected shooter as 36-year old Jaquawn Johnson. On September 11, the United States Marshal’s Task Force located Johnson hiding inside of a bed at a home on First Street and safely took him into custody.
Johnson was transported to the Monroe County Jail, where he is currently being held.
Jaquawn Johnson, age 36, is charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree. He was also served with an outstanding bench warrant for Aggravated Harassment in the 2nd Degree.
