Rochester, NY - On September 28, around 8:30pm, Officers responded to Strong Hospital for the report of a gunshot victim that had arrived for treatment. The victim, a male in his 30s, had been shot multiple times in the upper body. Thankfully, the medical staff were able to stabilize the victim and his injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.

The preliminary investigation found that the victim and the suspect were involved in an argument outside of a store in the 1200 block of Jay Street, when the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim multiples times before fleeing.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Section’s Non-Fatal Shooting Team identified 25-year old Pierce Gardner as the suspected shooter. Yesterday, the United States Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force located Gardner on Otis Street and safely took him into custody.

Pierce Gardner, age 25, is charged with Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 2nd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree.

Gardner was arraigned in Rochester City Court and is currently being held in the Monroe County Jail.
