East Main Street Fatal MVA Arrest

Rochester, NY - On May 24, 2026, around 2:30am, Officers responded to the 800 block of East Main Street for the report of an MVA with people trapped. Officers located a two vehicle head-on collision with serious injuries. 48-year old Jamie Seymore was transported to Strong Hospital, where she sadly passed away. The operator of the other vehicle, 34-year old Monique Byrd was transported to Strong Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation found that Seymore was travelling westbound, in a westbound lane, when the suspect vehicle, operated by Byrd, crossed the centerline and struck her head on. Further investigation by Officers led them to believe that Byrd was intoxicated and a blood draw was completed.
The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office presented the case to a Grand Jury, and on September 18, Byrd was arrested on an indictment warrant.
Monique Byrd, age 34, is charged with Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree, Aggravated Vehicle Homicide, Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree, Vehicular Manslaughter in the 1st Degree, and Driving While Intoxicated.
