The City of Rochester is inviting residents to share their thoughts on improving traffic safety by participating in a new online survey on automated traffic enforcement. The survey is now available at www.cityofrochester.gov/ROCVisionZero, and will remain open for three weeks.
The online survey builds on a successful series of public meetings held this spring as part of the City's ROC Vision Zero initiative. More than 200 residents attended meetings across Rochester and shared thoughtful, honest perspectives about both the opportunities and concerns associated with automated traffic enforcement, as well as the need to make Rochester's streets safer for everyone.
"We are grateful to the hundreds of residents who took the time to participate in the public input sessions," said Mayor Malik D. Evans. "This survey is another opportunity for residents to help shape the discussion as we evaluate potential tools to reduce traffic crashes and ultimately save lives."
All city residents are encouraged to visit the website to watch the presentation that was shared during the public input meetings, learn more about automated traffic enforcement, and complete the survey.
Automated traffic enforcement uses technology to identify specific traffic violations, such as speeding or running red lights. Community input will help inform future discussions and recommendations. Following the survey period, the City will compile feedback gathered from the public meetings, survey responses, and other key considerations related to traffic safety, equity, implementation, and effectiveness. A summary report is expected to be released this fall.
Residents can learn more, view the presentation, and complete the survey at www.cityofrochester.gov/ROCVisionZero.
